NORTHWEST ISD

Lance Thompson Elementary School
This new 2-story facility centers around a high-volume dining / learning commons, which is designed to feel like a tree-house. Small and large learning spaces (plus a makerspace) surround the commons, allowing teachers to scale learning environments outside of the classroom. Grade-level learning communities are located adjacent to the commons. Each community has classrooms that surround flex space and focus rooms. Walls are movable, creating greater adaptability for learning of all types.
Outdoor courtyards create usable space that is accessed easily by classrooms. Throughout the building, there are multiple channels of connectivity between peers, teachers, administrators and the community.
