New Lance Thompson Elementary School
Northwest ISD’s new elementary school will become a prototype for the district. The 2-story facility centers around a large dining / learning commons. Its open environment creates multiple channels of connectivity between peers, teachers, administrators and the community. The learning commons features focus rooms, a maker space and flexible furniture to support personalized and adaptable learning. Learning communities are located adjacent to the commons, with easy access to “maker” materials.
Within the learning communities, classrooms surround shared collaboration and flex space, as well as focus rooms. Walls are movable, creating even greater adaptability for learning of all types.
