Lake Ridge High School
The 3-story, 2,500-student high school is a miniature city where learning and student engagement are at the center of its architectural design. Three separate design vocabularies were created to make each student feel like they have their own community within the mass of the facility, and “pods” placed throughout provide areas for individual study and group break-out space. An enclosed glass gallery space allows natural light to flood the interior and connects to the library and student commons, the central hub of the campus. This project is a true success story for Mansfield ISD and Huckabee. Being significantly ahead of schedule and under budget, while meeting an extremely high standard of quality, it allowed the district to bring to reality other much-needed projects that once were considered only a dream.
