Killeen ISD Career Center
Huckabee worked with a community advisory council consisting of local businesses, colleges, the Texas Workforce Commission and KISD administrators and CTE staff to develop the facility’s curriculum and its subsequent design. The main goal of the academy is to improve student employability and provide college credit, certifications and relevant workplace skills. The hub of the campus is the student commons, which is utilized as a multi-use space for gathering, collaboration, lectures and events. The academy incorporates numerous clerestory openings for sunlight infiltration, and it utilizes sophisticated materials, equipment and finishes to provide a modern and innovative space. In addition, flexible drywall partitions between classroom spaces can be easily modified to accommodate changing programs in the future.
